The Corporate Affairs Commission (C.A.C.), a regulatory body of the
Corporate Affairs Commission (C.A.M.A.) has over the years managed the doing of
business in Nigeria. Remarkably in the past few months, it has further improved
its service delivery system geared towards the ease of doing business in
Nigeria following the interaction with the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
In tune with technology, the Corporate Affairs Commission started using
electronic workflows for its registration services from 2004 with the
deployment of Content Pinnacle but later changed to using Company Registration
Portal (C.R.P.) in 2014. The commission
further shut down operations on the 15th of May 2017 for manual submission of
new applications for registration of Companies, Business Names and incorporated
Trustees in the Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Enugu & Port Harcourt offices.
It is currently done online.
FEATURES OF THE COMMISSION'S NEW OPERATIONS:

New Policy:

It reduced filing fees payable for registration of
small and medium scale business/companies by 50%.

Large companies enjoy 25% reduction.
2. Decentralization of Operations:
·
State offices are more functional and at par with
the Head Office.
·
The offices can operate from start to finish
without going to Abuja.
3. Introduction of C.A.C. Form 1.1. in place of C.A.C. 2, 2.1, 4 and 7
4. Public Search:
·
Conduct search on this engine before applying
for reservation of name
·
Check on existing companies and their
operations.
5. Electronic Stamping
Integration:
·
Integration of the Company Registration
Portal to the Stamp Duty Portal of the FIRS.
·
It allows customers pay and stamp their
documents online through the Company Registration Portal.
6. Document Upload Interface:
·
Customers upload their registration documents
online for processing in place of physical submission at the C.A.C. office.
·
Customers can also checklist document
upload history by inputting their availability code.
7. Revised Framework For Direct
Registration:
·
Officers of the Commission can depose
to statutory declaration of Compliance in respect of applications submitted by
the first directors or subscribers (those carrying out registration without an accredited
agent.
8. Review Of Service Timelines:
The timeline allows 12 hours for Name Reservation from submission of request
and 24 hours for Registration of Companies, Business Names and Incorporated
Trustees from filing of application.
9. Public Users:
The portal allows anybody create an account for the purpose of incorporating an
entity and that account can be used for that entity alone and none other.
10. Elongation
of hours of Transaction:
Business and Service Delivery
of the commission run from 9 am to 7 pm, Monday to Friday both in the Head Office and other designated
offices.
